The artwork is inspired by the form and colours of various redlisted Irises where solitary bees often are found resting the night deep inside the flowers before they do about their nectar feeding business during the day.
The oldest references of the flower are found in Greek mythology where Iris meant the rainbow. She was a goddess that delivered messages/guided souls from Earth and heaven.
The Iris flowers are found in a large spectrum of colours and therefore also were used to name the ones in animal eyes. They are the national flower of France (fleur de les) and found in a lot of insignia/court of arms.
In Islam they are symbolic of spiritual guidance. The Irises even in semidesert habitats grow tall and the petals stand up pointing to the skies as if to remind us our higher human goal towards the divine.
In a natural world rift with ravaged ecosystems by unregulated development and wars we seek for spiritual guidance to show us the true path.
