This work, Cymbidium tigrinum, which refers to an orchid native to the north-east of India currently on the IUCN red list of endangered species, draws the viewer not just into an appreciation of nature’s beauty, but also to the fragility of its existence. Whether it is the commercial cultivation of ornamental flowers that has a harmful impact on fragile ecosystems, or deforestation and environmental degradation shrinking the natural habitats of these flowers, the orchids, for all their exotic beauty, face a precarious future.
